L'émail : une alchimie entre métal et verre
L'émail, un art millénaire
L'émaillage, c'est l'art de fixer des poudres de verre colorées sur un support métallique (or, argent, cuivre, etc.) par des cuissons successives à haute température. L'émail en basse taille : On sculpte le métal avant d'appliquer l'émail pour créer des reliefs.
Les étapes de l'émaillage
Préparation du support : Le métal est nettoyé et poli pour recevoir l'émail.
Application de l'émail : L'émail en poudre est mélangé à de l'eau pour former une pâte qui est appliquée sur le support.
Cuisson : L'objet est placé dans un four à haute température (environ 800°C) pour faire fondre et fixer l'émail.
Polissage : Une fois refroidi, l'objet est poli pour obtenir une surface lisse et brillante.
